Is Running Better than Biking for Cardiovascular Exercise? Ask a runner if biking is better than running and he or she will likely say no. Ask a biker the same question and her or she will likely say yes. If you've been around the health and fitness world enough, you've likely heard the arguments about one exercise method being superior to the next. You may have even formed your opinions about the topics. We're here to tell you that no one exercise or training style is by default better than the next. Both running and biking have the equal possibility to be beneficial to you. Neither one is automatically better than the other. Arguably, running is the harder cardio method, in that it requires a person to push his or her body weight through the air without the assistance of equipment, such as a bike. That said, someone who engages in a hard bike ride will benefit more than a person who engages in a light jog. The usefulness of cardio methods is not determined by type alone, but rather by the way you apply the cardio method. Both biking and running have the potential to offer you great benefit.
